Georgia Power -Georgia Power began an electric transportation program in 1992. The program was furthered in 1993 with the opening of the Electric Vehicle Research Center. This center was the electric utility industry's first facility dedicated exclusively to electric vehicle (EV) research. The center operated as a visual learning lab for the public, as well as a laboratory to test state of the art electric vehicle technologies. Georgia Power has continued to explore the use of new electric vehicles and electric transportation alternatives

In 1823, Myron Bartlett founded the Telegraph, which merged with the Messenger in 1869. The News was founded by 16-year-old Jerome Pound with an investment of $8 in 1884. In 1969, the papers joined Knight Ridder. The evening News and the morning Telegraph merged in 1983. In 1990, the paper was redesigned and renamed The Macon Telegraph. In December 1997, The Macon Telegraph acquired The (Warner Robins) Daily Sun, The Buyers' Guide and The Byron Gazette.

GEFA

As the State Energy Office, the GEFA Division of Energy Resources is the primary agency for energy programs, grants, and educational materials. Through a broad array of programs ranging from Home Energy Clinics for the residential sector and the installation of weatherization materials in low income homes to assisting fleets to use clean alternative fuels, GEFA annually assists thousands of citizens throughout the state.
